Repairing
and Retrofit (3/11)

Corrosion is
a chemical change which is called carbonization in reinforced concrete.
The speed of this chemical event depends on time and the concrete
quality. Concrete quality in such constructions is too low. Accordingly,
segregation may exist due to poor workmanship.
izo-BTS®
Process System must be used to regain reinforced concrete
elements. According to Izo - BTS® Process
System, at first, weak concrete, which is exposed to carbonization
should be cleaned up. This cleaning procedure is done both at the
corroded R/C elements along the corrosion depth and at the areas
where the strength is too low due to its structural design.
Concrete, which
has low strength is broken by mechanical applications then reinforcement
is cleaned by water blasting (by using water-jets). When this is
done, the reinforcement is painted by special epoxies, which are
developed for concrete repairing system. Later on, concrete surface
is repaired by Izomet - BRM®, (with its own primer)
- a repair mortar - also developed for concrete repairing system.
Izomet - BRM® contains propylene thread (duomix) and reinforcing
steel fibers (dramix).
